[Tutorial] Update Android 7.0 Nougat OmniROM on Nexus 6P

Team OmniROM has released it’s popular Android 7.0 Nougat based custom ROM for Nexus 6P. Nexus 6P has already tasted the official Nougat update from Google as well but if you are interested in flashing an alternative ROM on your device then OmniROM is the best choice. The OmniROM is available for a wide range of devices but this is the first Nougat build for Nexus 6P, so you may expect some bugs until a stable version arrives. So in this guide we are going to flash Android 7.0 Nougat on Nexus 6P via OmniROM, we will follow the same process we have previously used for other devices.

Note: The Android 7.0 Nougat OmniROM for Nexus 6P is currently in the newer build and you may notice some minor lags but if you are feeling eager to install then just carry on along with the guide. Remember Android 7.0 Nougat ROM is a third party custom ROM but not an official/stock firmware by the manufacturer so after installing Android 7.0 Nougat ROM on Nexus 6P if you wish to revert back to stock firmware you can do it any time you want

How to install Android 7.0 Nougat on Nexus 6P via OmniROM

Before you begin:

Installing custom ROM on your device needs some early preparations to be made and these preparations include;

A custom recovery is the most necessary element while installing custom ROMs or any .zip file in your device so a custom recovery like ClockworkMod or TWRP must be installed on your device or simply

Android USB drivers for your device should be installed on your PC, or you can download the latest USB drivers for your device from the below provided link.

Create a Backup of your complete Android device

Backup is the most necessary part for your device you need to create a Nandroid backup of your device through custom recovery. We prefer Nandroid backup over other many apps because you don’t need to download multiple backup apps for specific purpose, the Nandroid backup will let you create backup of your device including; Messages, call log, settings and calendar including whole Android OS. How to create a Nandroid backup/restore of your Android device

You can easily restore your backup when ever you wish to do so, this is good in aspect if your device accidentally met some issue during the flashing process.

Keep your battery charged or at least your device should contain at least 80% charge before the flashing operation.

If the PC is unable to unable to detect your device after even after installing Android USB drivers for your device, then you need to perform one more step,

Enable USB debugging, go to Settings >> Developer options >> USB debugging.

Once you done with the above preparations now it’s time to flash Android 7.0 Nougat OmniROM on your Nexus 6P. Just go ahead and follow the steps in sequence to avoid any issue while flashing Android 7.0 Nougat OmniROM on Nexus 6P.

Process to install Android 7.0 Nougat on Nexus 6P via OmniROM

Download the Android 7.0 Nougat OmniROM for Nexus 6P from below along Google apps.

Once you successfully downloaded the Android 7.0 Nougat OmniROM along Google Apps on PC, Now connect your device to PC and move the downloaded files on the internal storage of your device. [If you downloaded it via phone then skip this step]

Its time to reboot your device into recovery Mode, to do so you can search for it or use hardware buttons combination. (If your device is rooted then its super easy, just visit Google Play and download any third party reboot app for this purpose)

Once your device successfully boots into recovery mode, select the downloaded Android 7.0 Nougat ROM .zip file and confirm it by swiping the slider for (TWRP) or yes for (CWM).

Wait for the process to complete, now perform the same step to flash Google apps zip file on your device.

Once successfully done with the installation procedure simply reboot your device, please note the first boot up may take 5 to 7 minutes so be patient as things needs to be settled up for boot.
