Root Nexus 6P, Nexus 6, Nexus 5X and Nexus 9 on Android 7.0 Nutella [NPC56P factory image]

Root method for Nexus devices on Android 7.0 NPC56P is now available and the credit goes to Chainfire. All you need to do is just flash the CF-Auto-Root package via recovery and enjoy the root. Before we move ahead for the rooting process lets see what you can do with a rooted device.

Before you begin:

Create a Backup of your device

Backup is the most necessary part for your device, so we recommend you to create a secure backup of your data.

Early Preparations:

You need to prepare your device for the root process, follow the below perquisites steps to keep the recovery installation process smooth without facing errors.

Keep your battery charged or at least your device should contain at least 80% charge before the flashing operation.

Android USB drivers for your device should be installed on your PC, or you can download the latest USB drivers for your device from the below provided link. Download USB drivers for Nexus

A custom recovery like TWRP or CWM should be installed in order to process further or you can visit our recovery section and select your device.

Download CF-Auto-root-angler for Nexus 6P

Download CF-Auto-root-shamu for Nexus 6

Download CF-Auto-root-bullhead for Nexus 5x

Download CF-Auto-root-volantis for Nexus 9

You need to flash CF Autoroot package via recovery to get root access on Nexus 6P, Nexus 6, Nexus 5X and Nexus 9.

Connect your device again with the PC and copy the chainfire zip file on your phone.

Now type the following command to reboot your device to recovery mode or simply use hardware keys combination. (Please note enable the USB debugging option from developer option as mentioned above).

“adb reboot recovery”

You will be taken to TWRP recovery mode. You can also perform the above operation using hardware keys combination.

Tap the install button and choose the CF-Auto-Root zip file and swipe the slider to confirm install

Once the installation process is completed simply reboot your device.
