How to root Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X and Pixel C on Android 7.1 Nougat NPF10C factory image

Android 7.1.1 Nougat first Developer preview is released for Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P and Pixel C. We have posted a guide on them already, if you haven’t update yet then here is the guide to update Nexus devices on Android 7.1 NPF10C Nougat firmware. This guide is about rooting the NPF10C Android 7.1 Nougat update on Nexus 5X, 6P and Pixel C, the process is almost same that we previously used for Android 7.0, the SuperSU rooting method is achieved with the help of a TWRP recovery, just follow the below mentioned procedure to root Android 7.1 Nougat NPF10C firmware on Nexus 5X, 6P and Pixel C. Before we move ahead for the rooting process lets see what you can do with a rooted device.

Early Preparations:

You need to prepare your device for the root process, follow the below perquisites steps to avoid any issues.

A custom recovery like TWRP must be installed or visit our recovery section and choose the recovery process for desired device.

Backup is the most necessary part for your device, so we recommend you to create a secure backup of your data.

Keep your battery charged or at least your device should contain at least 80% charge before the flashing operation.

Process to Root Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P and Pixel C on Android 7.1 Nougat NPF10C firmware

You need to flash SuperSU package via recovery to get root access on Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P and Pixel C.

Connect your device again with the PC and copy the SuperSU zip file on your phone.

Now type the following command to reboot your device to recovery mode or simply use hardware keys combination. (Please note enable the USB debugging option from developer option as mentioned above).

“adb reboot recovery”

You will be taken to TWRP recovery mode. You can also perform the above operation using hardware keys combination.

Tap the install button and choose the SuperSU.zip file and swipe the slider to confirm install

Once the installation process is completed simply reboot your device.
