Google started rolling out Android 7.1.1 Nougat, First Developer Preview for it’s Nexus devices. Currently the updates have been released for Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P and Pixel C, you can grab the factory images from the link provided below and easily update them on your device. The Android 7.1.1 Nougat first developer preview for Nexus devices carries build number NPF10C and if you have an Android Beta Program registration then you are eligible to get the latest update on your device. The Android 7.1 Nougat First Developer Preview can be updated via OTA but as we mentioned above if you are registered for beta program, the manual installation process is also instructed below just go ahead grab the NPF10C factory images and for your device and install them on your device.
Update Nexus 5X, 6P and Pixel c on Android 7.1.1 Nougat first DP NPF10C via OTA
To update Nexus devices on NPF10C firmware you don’t need to download multiple file for it, just you need your device and the working internet connection. You must also remember that OTA process works only on Stock devices which means your device is no longer rooted while you searching for latest firmware via OTA. If you think you are all set to go, then
Go to device Settings >> tap on About device >> Software updates.
Now tap it to check the latest available firmware. Upon it’s availability you will be prompted about the update, now what just tap “Download Now” to instantly download the firmware or “Download later” if you wish to download later.
How to install Android 7.1.1 Nougat,NPF10C First Developer Preview on Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P and Pixel C via ADB
Before you begin:
Disclaimer: This guide includes flashing Stock firmware and other operations on your device. The writer is not responsible for any damage happens to your device during the whole operation neither we are forcing you to perform such operation.
Backup is the most necessary part for your device, so we recommend you to create a secure backup of your data.
Android USB drivers for your device should be installed on your PC, or you can download USB drivers for Google
Your device bootloader should be unlock or follow our guide to see the unlocking process (Simple and same for all Nexus devices)
ADB-Fastboot drivers should be setup on PC or follow this guide
Keep your battery charged or at least your device should contain at least 80% charge before the flashing operation.
Enable USB debugging and check the Allow Mock Locations option too. To enable USB debugging in your device go to Setting >> Developer options >> USB debugging. USB debugging is meant for the development purpose hence it will ask you for the confirmation so tap OK to confirm.
Once you are done with the above preparations now it’s time to install the firmware on Nexus devices.
Process to install NPF10C First Developer Preview facory images on Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P and Pixel C via ADB
Download the specified factory image for your Nexus device from the link below and once you are done with the download process, now turn off your device completely.
Now boot your device into fastboot/bootloader mode. To do so you can search for it or use hardware buttons combination. (If your device is rooted then its super easy, just visit Google Play and download any third party reboot app for this purpose). Press Volume up + Volume Down + Power simultaneously until you see fastboot logo.
Now extract the NPF10C firmware you have downloaded earlier and copy all the files in the a specific folder.
Open the folder, you will find a file with name “flash-all script” click on it and the firmware update process will started.
Once the installation completes, your device will reboot itself. Please note first reboot may take upto 5 minutes so be patient.
