How to backup and restore your Android device via TWRP recovery

  • Boot your device into TWRP recovery mode, if you don’t know how to enter recovery mode you can search for it or use hardware buttons combination for it. (If your device is rooted then its super easy, just visit Google Play and download any third party reboot app for this purpose)
  • Once your device successfully boots into recovery mode, now it’s time to create the Nandroid backup.
  • In the TWRP recovery menu, tap the Backup option and it will ask you to confirm the partitions you would like to backup (by default Boot, System and Data is already checked).
  • Just swipe the slider to confirm. The backup process will start immediately and will show a success message once done.
  • Reboot your device.

To restore the Nandroid backup you created earlier, tap the Restore option in the main menu and you will see the earlier backup file, select it and swipe the slider to confirm restore.

How to backup and restore your Android device via ClockworkMod recovery

  • Boot your device into ClockworkMod recovery mode, if you don’t know how to enter recovery mode you can search for it or use hardware buttons combination for it. (If your device is rooted then its super easy, just visit Google Play and download any third party reboot app for this purpose)
  • Once your device successfully boots into recovery mode, now it’s time to create the Nandroid backup.
  • In the ClockworkMod recovery menu, select “backup and restore” and tap the “backup” option and the backup process will start immediately.

To restore the backup perform the same procedure but this time hit “restore” option and select the file to begin restore.
